Home, Family & Personal Enrichment, 100 Dresses/ Self-Reliance

We had an amazing turnout for enrichment! Thanks to all who attended and those who helped make it so successful! Hope you all enjoyed the evening as much as I did. We finally met our goal of dresses as of Sunday! Marc and Linda Strickland from the Niceville Ward were our fabulous speakers. Kay Newton did an amazing job with the food table/committee. Thanks to Marsha Fleming, our new assistant enrichment leader, for taking cake of the decorating committee...thus our beautiful "dress centerpieces". I had several comments that they were so fun to do! They all looked so cute and different! I appreciate everyone that helped me out with this one. We have such amazing talented sisters in our ward and I love you all!

100 Dresses

For our upcoming Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment Meeting on September 9th, we are collecting dresses to donate to Shelter House. Our theme is Self Reliance and we hope to collect 100 dresses to give to these women in need. "The objective of the welfare program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is to care for the needy while teaching principles that will allow needy persons to become self-reliant and retain their self-respect. The program also provides opportunities to all other members of the Church to serve — fulfilling the commandment Jesus Christ gave to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, take in the stranger, clothe the naked and visit the sick."

We also want to hear the stories that go along with the dress(es) you donate ... Did you wear it for a special occasion? Was it a gift? What made this dress special for you? What do you hope for the woman who receives it? This is also a great activity to bring a friend to or a less-active member, and maybe she has a dress to donate. If you haven't done your spring cleaning yet, this is the perfect excuse to clean out your closet! Please bring your donations to the church; we will be collecting dresses July 6th through September 7th.

Beach Bums

The Playgroup went to Fort Walton on Wednesday for a morning of Goofy Golf and an afternoon at Marler Park enjoying the bay. Some highlights were building "witches castles" and catching the fish using pretzels for bait. Thanks to those that came out, and to Leslie and Miriama for organizing the activity!

"Only shooting stars break the mold"

Last night was Kid's Karaoke at The Funky Blues Shack, and we had a great time! Emma and Maddalyn sang multiple songs, as a duet and with other friends. The Ballards were there as well, and Jadyn, Ethan, and Dillon rocked out like old pros, to favorites like "All-Star" by Smash Mouth. Hope to get more families out there in the coming weeks! (Kid's Karaoke is held every Thursday night from 5-8 PM for kids ages 14 and under; kids 10 and under eat free at Graffiti on Thursdays. This is a special "summertime only" promotion.)

Our Company of Good Women!

I'm so excited about this! I think the Internet can be a great tool. I love getting funny and informative e-mails from Tammy, Jeri and Vonda, and I loved sending an email last week needing a tent and within minutes, Sue Parker called and offered one! Love you Sue!! I love our ward family and hope that this blog will be one more way to unite us together, help one another and express our thanks and love to each other. I love opportunities to get to know everyone better, just like our RS Temple trip! That was such a fun bonding experience to me. I just love being in the company of good women! I am definitely looking forward to the next trip . I hope everyone makes that a goal!
Love you all!

The Goal

"The purposes of home, family, & personal enrichment (HF&PE) are to strengthen faith in Jesus Christ and to teach parenting and homemaking skills. Enrichment is a time for sisters to socialize, learn, and be uplifted. Enrichment activities bring together sisters who have common needs, interests, or circumstances." (See link for more.)
The Goal of this blog is to have a place where sisters can share their experiences and especially their pictures from Enrichment activities. This will also be a place to learn about upcoming Enrichment meetings and share ideas or offer feedback.
If you have an interest in posting, you will first need to be added as an author. Please email Amy Gouker (1st Counselor).
Enjoy!
