Post Parable

What an uplifting evening! Many thanks to the sisters who helped make the event happen. Tena, you rock; I couldn't ask for a better HF&PE Leader! Sister Seager, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to rehearse and play the piano. Our singers, Vonda, Kay, Nicole, and Holly; you all sang beautifully and I'm sure would have done Jenny Phillips proud. And out cast, Sisters Malcom and Hancock, and Ingrid ... you're all princesses to me.

The Parable of the Princesses

It's March, and that means it's time to celebrate the organization of the Relief Society! This year will be a presentation called The Parable of the Princesses. For a special treat, the Young Women will be in attendance; we hope this will give you sisters an opportunity to become better acquainted with our younger soon-to-be sisters.

The event will take place in the Cultural Hall on Tuesday, March 10th from 6:30-8:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served and a Children's Class offered as needed. (Please let a member of the RS Presidency know if you will be needing childcare.) Sunday dress, please.

The Stake Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment Meeting

I'm sure those of you who were in attendance at the Stake HFPE Meeting had as uplifting an experience as I did. What a great opportunity to give service to our community! For those of you who were unable to attend, enjoy the following pictures ... (A big THANK YOU to Melissa White for the pictures!)

Because He First Loved Us

Please join us Saturday, February 28, 2009 for our Stake Home, Family and Personal Enrichment Meeting. The meeting will be at the Stake Center in Fort Walton Beach from 10 AM to 12:30 PM. Casual dress; lunch and childcare will be provided.

Our ward has been given the assignment to help assemble (and later, deliver) Easter baskets for local area hospitals and shelters. Sign-up sheets will be coming around soon.

We will also be tying quilts, decorating Teddy Bears, and making purses for those living in nursing homes. It will be a great opportunity to provide service for people in need.

If you are interested in carpooling, please contact a member of the Relief Society Presidency.

Home, Family & Personal Enrichment, 100 Dresses/ Self-Reliance

We had an amazing turnout for enrichment! Thanks to all who attended and those who helped make it so successful! Hope you all enjoyed the evening as much as I did. We finally met our goal of dresses as of Sunday! Marc and Linda Strickland from the Niceville Ward were our fabulous speakers. Kay Newton did an amazing job with the food table/committee. Thanks to Marsha Fleming, our new assistant enrichment leader, for taking cake of the decorating committee...thus our beautiful "dress centerpieces". I had several comments that they were so fun to do! They all looked so cute and different! I appreciate everyone that helped me out with this one. We have such amazing talented sisters in our ward and I love you all!

100 Dresses

For our upcoming Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment Meeting on September 9th, we are collecting dresses to donate to Shelter House. Our theme is Self Reliance and we hope to collect 100 dresses to give to these women in need. "The objective of the welfare program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is to care for the needy while teaching principles that will allow needy persons to become self-reliant and retain their self-respect. The program also provides opportunities to all other members of the Church to serve — fulfilling the commandment Jesus Christ gave to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, take in the stranger, clothe the naked and visit the sick."

We also want to hear the stories that go along with the dress(es) you donate ... Did you wear it for a special occasion? Was it a gift? What made this dress special for you? What do you hope for the woman who receives it? This is also a great activity to bring a friend to or a less-active member, and maybe she has a dress to donate. If you haven't done your spring cleaning yet, this is the perfect excuse to clean out your closet! Please bring your donations to the church; we will be collecting dresses July 6th through September 7th.
